Three Years After Graduation, Davido Registers For NYSC

Three years after obtaining a Bachelors degree in music, popular Nigerian Musician, David Adeleke better known as Davido, is the latest corps member in town as he registered to join the National Youth Service Corp on Tuesday. In a post on his Instagram story, the 'Fia' crooner said: “I just registered for NYSC kamming.” Although it is not sure which state he was posted to, Davido expressed delight in serving his fatherland. Davido graduated from Babcock University, Ilisan- Remo, Ogun State, in 2015 after completing his course in music. His graduation ceremony was graced by Don jazzy and a host of other Nigerian artistes. The National Youth Service Corp is a one-year mandatory service any Nigerian graduate of tertiary institutions below the age of 30 must go through.

Ever since popular entertainer, Falz, released the song, ‘This is Nigeria,’ it has been shrouded in controversy. At first, Islamic group, Muslim Rights Concern called for the song to be banned because some ladies in hijab were dancing Shaku Shaku and they believed it was against the Islamic religion, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. During the week, the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission fined a radio station to the tune of N100,000 for playing the song which they said was unfit for airplay because of this line, “This is Nigeria, look how we living now. Everybody be criminal,” stating that it made the song vulgar and it was in contravention of Section 3.6.1 and 3.13.2.2 of its constitution. Breaking: Police arrest, detain sacked DSS DG Lawal Daura

A combined team of the Police and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have reportedly arrested and detained the sacked Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura. Reports say Daura was arrested just shortly after he was sacked by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo for “breaching national security.” The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, had, earlier on, directed the immediate  termination of the appointment of Daura with immediate effect following the invasion of the National Assembly chambers by masked men of the DSS. A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande, in Abuja, Tuesday, stated that Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.
